RECOMMENDATION: Approve resolution authorizing closure of Fourth Street from Lincoln
Avenue to Tamalpais Avenue, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday May 9, 2010, for the Sol Food 5
year Anniversary Celebration
BACKGROUND: In honor of five successful years as a Downtown business, Sol Food restaurant
owner, Sol Hernandez, would like to share a celebration with her customers, the public and the
Downtown. The celebration will include Puerto Rican live music and food, starting with a Downtown
parade on Sunday May 9"', 2010. The parade will require a rolling closure assisted by SRPD and the
event requires a one block closure for the day.
FISCAL IMPACT: Fee recovery for Police time dedicated to the parade and the event will be
reimbursed by the event producer. Event staff time is budgeted for this Downtown event.

Resolution Authorizing Street Closures for the Sol Food 5 Year Anniversary
Celebration on Sunday, May 9, 2010, on Fourth Street from
Lincoln Avenue to Tamalpais Avenue from Sam — 8pm
WHEREAS, the Sol Food 5 Year Anniversary necessitates the temporary closure of city streets on May 9, 2010
as specified below:
Fourth Street from Lincoln Avenue to Tamalpais Avenue from 8am to 8pm
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and
recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the downtown area, the
above streets should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the date and times described above.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of
persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary
closure of the above listed streets for the date and times described above.
