RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF MISSION AVENUE BETWEEN
C STREET AND E STREET FOR THE SAN RAFAEL FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL
ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, 2007, FROM 4:00 A.M. TO 10:00 P.M.
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Food and Wine Festival at Falkirk Cultural Center
necessitates the temporary closure of Mission Avenue between C Street and E Street on
Saturday, August 11, 2007, from 4:00 AM -- 10:00 PM; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has
determined and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian
and auto traffic in the downtown area, and to accommodate vendor booths at the event,
the above street should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the date and time
described above: and
WHEREAS, Mission Avenue has been closed in the same manner in past years with
success for this and similar events;
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
2. That, pursuant to the authority of the Vehicle Code section 21101 (e), for the
protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council
hereby authorizes the temporary closure of the above listed street for the date
and time described above.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael hereby certify that the
foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a Regular meeting
of the City Council of said City held on Monday, the sixteenth day of July, 2007, by the
following vote to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Cohen, Heller, Miller, Phillips and Mayor Boro
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
