CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESGUITION OF 11PPRECIRTION
TO
John Montenero
WHEREAS, John Montenero came to the San Rafael Fire Department as an Interim Fire
Chief to replace Fire Chief Bruce Martin who had moved on to the Fremont Fire Department;
WHEREAS, John Montenero was asked and agreed to become the permanent Fire Chief
and to dedicate his time to reorganizing the Fire Prevention and Fire Departments; and
WHEREAS, he saw the need for building a communication process and continued to
systematically introduce the AIM process, that Chief Martin had begun, through the Chain of
Command; and
WHEREAS, when the Reorganization and the Communication program were not
challenging enough, he helped create and champion the Vegetation Management program and
Ordinance that will be his legacy long after he leaves the City of San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, he was well known for his humility, his communication skill, his self
control, his integrity, his ability to recognize a problem, honestly address the problem and find a
positive solution almost effortlessly.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City
of San Rafael extend their heartfelt thanks for a job well done. He will be sorely missed by the
Fire Department staff as well as the entire City staff.
