Special Joint Meeting: San Rafael Redevelopment Agency/ Redevelopment Agency Citizens Advisory Committee Present/SRRA: Lawrence E. Mulryan, Chairman Albert J. Boro/Member Dorothy L. Breiner/Member Joan C. Thayer/Member Michael A. Shippey/Member Absent: None Present/CAC: Dale Bartley, Out -going Chairman Don Swartz, Chairman -Elect George Uri, Member Hollis Hardin, Member Abe Yang, Member Anise Turina, Member Barbara Parker, Member Mary Jo Lazear, Member Absent: John Touchstone Also Present: Pamela J. Nicolai, Executive Director/Acting Redevelopment Agency Secretary Jake Ours, Assistant Executive Director of Redevelopment Agency Katie Korzun, Redevelopment Planner Sheila Edwards, Staff Secretary Social time and dinner from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The business portion of the meeting was called to order by Chairman Mulryan at 8:30 p.m. The members of the CAC were thanked for their hard work and valuable input to the Redevelopment Agency throughout the past year. Chairman Mulryan also shared the outcome of the recent City Council and Department Head Retreat, including the vision of San Rafael and the mission statement. Open discussion followed regarding the upcoming projects and goals for the Redevelopment Agency. Items on the cur- rent projects list and upcoming projects list included: the proposed county/city library, the housing problem in San Rafael (including social impacts of overcrowded housing units such as in the Canal area), financing and budgeting of new projects. It was suggested that the CAC take a "Downtown Field Trip" together in the early evening after the time changes and meet with property owners and retailers to get a hands-on update of the current downtown situation. A second Field Trip was suggested for the Canal area. Don Swartz also suggested that the City request that CalTrans change the Highway 101 offramp signage from "Central San Rafael" to "Downtown San Rafael" in order to focus on the true downtown offramp.
