RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL WAIVING PAYMENT
OF FEES FOR A BUILDING PERMIT AND FIRE SPRINKLER PERMIT FOR BUCKELEW
COMMUNITY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION TO MAKE SEISMIC
IMPROVEMENTS AND INSTALL FIRE SPRINKLERS TO AN EXISTING 10- UNIT
AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AT 7 MARIPOSA ROAD
(ROGERS GREENE APARTMENTS); APN 013-061-12
WHEREAS, on August 1, 2001 Katherine Crecelius, on behalf of Buckelew Community Housing
Development Organization, submitted a letter requesting a fee waiver in the amount of approximately
$2,300.00 for building permit and fire sprinkler permit fees; and
WHEREAS, on July 24, 2001 BCHDO submitted an application for a building permit to make seismic
improvements to the existing 10 -unit multi -family residential development at 7 Mariposa Road;
NOW, TIIEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of San Rafael that the requirement for
payment of Building Division permit fees and Fire Department sprinkler permit fees is hereby waived,
finding that the proposed waiver is consistent with the requirements of Resolution 10789 establishing
policies for consideration of fee waivers in that;
Buckelew Community Housing Development Organization is a non-profit organization providing
services of benefit to the general public of San Rafael, specifically: a) acquiring market rate
properties; b) converting these to affordable housing; and c) rehabilitating the interiors and exteriors
of substandard buildings. BCHDO's efforts at 7 Mariposa Road are a benefit to both residents of the
complex and San Rafael residents as a whole because the creation of affordable housing provides a
needed social service and the seismic and fire sprinkler improvements create safe and decent
housing; and
• The waiver of $2,300 would not have a significant impact on General Fund revenues.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any Building Division and Fire Department sprinkler application
and permit fees which have been paid to date for this permit shall be refunded to the applicant.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said
