CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
MICHAEL G. "MICK" BUNKER
WHERRAS, Michael "Mick" Bunker has been a member of the San Rafael Police
Department from February 1970 to April 1977 and then again from October 1979 to
December 1999 serving as a uniformed officer and police corporal; and
WHEREAS, Mick worked tirelessly in service to the community, displaying
professionalism and dedication to the City of San Rafael in every task assigned him,
making significant contributions to the San Rafael Police Department in a variety of
assignments including: Uniformed Patrol, Marine Patrol, Warrants & Permits, the SR
CARD Procedures Subcommittee, and Crime Prevention; and
WHEREAS, Mick's most enduring contributions were during his tenure in the
Crime Prevention Office, in particular in the establishment of the SRPD Citizen Police
Academy, the Neighborhood Watch Program, the Police Department's Crime
Prevention Booth at the Marin County Fair, the Crime Free Multi Housing Plan, the
Neighborhood Watch Newsletter, and Crime Stoppers; and
WHEREAS, Mick's efforts in the aforementioned areas gained considerable
respect and credit for the department in substantially enhanced police and community
relations; and
WHEREAS Mick was honorably retired from the San Rafael Police Department
in December 1999 following 27 years of dedicated service to our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby express their sincerest appreciation to Corporal Michael "Mick" Bunker
for his twenty seven years of service and on behalf of all the citizens of our community
wish him well in the future.
