CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
MICHAEL COSTELLO
WHEREAS, Michael Costello has been a member of the San Rafael Police Department
from 1969 to 2001, serving as a uniformed officer, police corporal and police sergeant; and
WHEREAS, Mike selflessly dedicated his time and energies to many aspects of law
enforcement including service as a patrol officer, patrol supervisor, juvenile investigations
supervisor, Special Response Team member, traffic motorcycle officer and traffic collision
investigator, and
WHEREAS, Mike has made an especially important contribution to the San Rafael
Police Department and allied agencies as a police motorcycle instructor, a role in which he
continues to serve; and
WHEREAS, Mike's dedication, as evidenced by his extraordinary level of performance as
a motorcycle officer, has set the standard for all those who will follow him; and
WHEREAS, all those who met Mike in connection with his law enforcement duties were
greeted with enthusiasm, treated with respect and impressed by his dedication; and
WHEREAS, Mike was honorably retired from the San Rafael Police Department in
January 2001 following 32 years of dedicated service to our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby express their sincerest appreciation to Officer Michael Costello for his years of dedicated
service and on behalf of all the citizens of our community wish him well in the future.
