PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION

ALAN GRIEVE
WHEREAS, Alan `Al' Grieve has been a member of the San Rafael Police Department
from 1974 to 1999 serving as a reserve officer, uniformed officer; and
WHEREAS, Alan worked tirelessly in service to the community, displaying uncommon
professionalism and dedication to the City of San Rafael in every task assigned him; and
WHEREAS, all those who met Alan in connection with his law enforcement duties were
served with professionalism, treated with respect and impressed by his dedication; and
WHEREAS, Alan has faithfully served the citizens of San Rafael as a Reserve Officer,
Patrol Officer, Traffic Officer, Traffic Investigator, Auto Theft Investigator, Special Response
Team Member, Motorcycle Instructor and Peer Counselor; and
WHEREAS, Alan has made many significant contributions to the safety and well being
of the citizens of San Rafael through his efforts and expertise in traffic enforcement and
accident investigations and accident re -construction, his work on the Traffic Coordinating
Committee, the Community Policing Committee and the Peer Counseling Committee; and
WHEREAS, Al was honorably retired from the San Rafael Police Department in
December 1999 following 25 years of dedicated service to our community.
_ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby express their sincerest appreciation to Officer Alan "Al' Grieve for his 25 years of
dedicated service and on behalf of all the citizens of our community wish him well in the
future.
