CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
WHEREAS, John Randall "Randy" Huntoon Joined the San Rafael Police
Department in September 1980 as a police officer and continuously served the citizens
of San Rafael until he retired in March 2001; and
wme,nm=AS, Randy's duties included being the Crime Prevention Officer and a
member of the Police Department SWAT negotiator team for over twelve years, during
which time, Randy worked on numerous incidents where criminal suspects or suicidal
persons barricaded themselves and were convinced to surrender peacefully, without
resort to the use of force; and
WHEREAS, Randy served as a range master for the Police Department, training
virtually every member of the department on the safe, effective and appropriate use of
the full range of police weaponry as well as hundreds of San Rafael residents who
participated in the Citizen Police Academy; and
WHEREAS, Randy was honorably retired from the San Rafael Police
Department in March 2001 following 21 years of dedicated service to our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby express their sincerest appreciation to Corporal Randy Huntoon for his
21 years of dedicated service and on behalf of all the citizens of our community wish
him well in the future.
