A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE
TIME CHANGE FOR THE MERCADO DEL
CANAL SUNDAY STREET CLOSURES TO 11:00
A.M. — 5:00 P.M. THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2001
(MERCADO DEL CANAL TO BE HELD BETWEEN
12:00 — NOON AND 4:00 P.M.)
WHEREAS, the Mercado del Canal necessitates the following change in the temporary closure of
a city street as specified below:
Alto Street: between Belvedere St. and Larkspur St. from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on
Sundays from July 22, 2001 through September 30, 2001.
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined
and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the
downtown area, the above street in the Canal area should be temporarily closed to through traffic
for the dates and times described above.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
3. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and
protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby
authorizes the temporary closure of the above listed streets and parking lots for the dates
and times described above.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of San Rafael, held on Monday, the sixteenth day of July, 2001, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers: Cohen, Heller, Miller, Phillips & Mayor Boro
NOES: Councilmembers: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers: None
