HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 10891 (Cycling Classic)RESOLUTION NO. 10891 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF CITY STREETS FOR THE SAN RAFAEL CYCLING CLASSIC ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2001 FROM 6:30 A.M. TO 4:30 P.M. WHEREAS, the San Rafael Cycling Classic necessitates the temporary closure of city streets as specified below: Streets to be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: 1. Fourth Street from Lootens to "E" St. 2. Fifth Avenue from Court to "E" St. 3. "A" Street from the parking entrance to 5th Avenue 4. `B" Street from 3rd to Mission St. 5. "C" Street from 3 to Mission St. 6. "D" Street from 3ra to Fifth Avenue WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the downtown area, the above streets in the downtown area should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the dates and times described above. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 1. That all of the above findings are true and correct; 3. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary closure of the above listed streets and parking lots for the dates and times described above. I, JEANNE M. LEONCM, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of San Rafael, held on Monday, the sixth day of August, 2001, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmembers: Heller, Miller, Phillips and Mayor Boro NOES: Councilmembers: None ABSENT: Councilmembers: Cohen X. .IE M.
