HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 10767 (Traffic Signal Lighting)RESOLUTION NO. 10767 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL APPROPRIATING $225,000 TO FULLY FUND THE CONVERSION OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL LIGHTING FROM INCANDESCENT TO LIGHT EMITTING DIODE. WHEREAS, energy conservation has become an important issue for the State of California; and WHEREAS, PG&E and the California Energy Commission have advertised grant programs to assist local government to reduce energy consumption before the summer months; and WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has been awarded a grant from PG&E in the amount of $225,277 to convert the incandescent light fixtures in all traffic signal heads to light emitting diodes; and WHEREAS, this conversion will achieve significant reductions in power consumption and will achieve approximately $78,000 savings annually in energy costs; and cost; WHEREAS, the grant covers approximately half of the total conversion NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of San Rafael hereby appropriates $225,000 to fiilly fiord the conversion of traffic signal lighting from incandescent to light emitting diode. �Uf kl f L 1� �0 I, JEANNE M.
