A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF DOWNTOWN
STREETS FOR THE YOUTH IN ARTS ITALIAN
STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, the Youth in Arts Italian Street Painting Festival necessitates the temporary closure of
several downtown streets as specified below:
• Fifth Avenue: from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 81, and from 10:00 p.m. on June
8"' until Monday, June 12`x' at 6:00 p.m. (or until slurry seal is complete).
• Julia Street & A Street: from 7:30 am. on Thursday, June 8h until Monday, June 12'x' at 6:00
p.m. (or until slurry seal is complete). Please see attached documentation.
Rain Date: In the event of rain, street closures would occur one week later, from June 15"'
through June 19th.
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined
and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the
downtown area, the above streets in the downtown should be temporarily closed to through traffic
for the dates and times described above.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
3. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and
protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby
authorizes the temporary closure of the above listed streets and parking lots for the dates
and times described above.

Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of San Rafael, held on Monday, the twentieth day of March, 2000, by the following vote, to
