HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 10635 (Flag Day)RESOLUTION NO. 10635 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING JUNE 14, 2000, AS FLAG DAY IN THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL. WHEREAS, on June 14, 1777, by an Act of Congress, the first official Flag of the United States was adopted; and WHEREAS, on August 3, 1949, by an Act of Congress, June 14th was designated "NATIONAL FLAG DAY;" and WHEREAS, Congress has requested the President to issue annually a proclamation designating the week of June 14 as "NATIONAL FLAG WEEK", and WHEREAS, Flag Day celebrates our nation's symbol of unity, a democracy in a republic, and stands for our country's devotion to freedom to the rule of all, and to equal rights for all; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of San Rafael does hereby proclaim June 14, 2000, as Flag Day in San Rafael. I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 15th day of May, 2000, by the following vote, to wit; AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Cohen, l el l er, Miller and Mayor Boro NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: Phillips JEANNEW LEONCINI, City Clerk
