CITY OF SAN RAFAEL

RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
MACERICH
WHEREAS, the concept for City Hall at the Mall evolved from a city
council -management team meeting, and, In 1997, at the behest of
Councllmember Barbara Heller, the City Hall Outreach Committee was formed to
explore methods of achieving this goal, and
WHEREAS, the Northgate Mall General Manager, Peter Galli, expressed
interest in this concept, suggesting that the Mall at Northgate would be an
appropriate venue; and
WHEREAS, Macerich offered to lease to the City a convenient location in
the Mall for only $1.00 per year and is also contributing $20,000 for staff support
with additional funds for renovation and building costs; and
WHEREAS, thanks to Peter Galli and the Macerich Company, owners of
Northgate Mall, this concept will become a reality, with construction on the site to
begin this month.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of San Rafael hereby salutes the Macerich Company for its generosity and aid in
the establishment of City Hall at the Mall and recognizes the positive effect of
such a community partnership on the quality of life in our fair city.
