RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL APPROVING USE OF
FEDERAL LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT OF $67,081.00 FOR POLICE CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM AND
PROCUREMENT OF EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY.
Whereas, the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance Granted the City of San Rafael $67,081 in block grant
funds; and,
Whereas, this block grant money may be spent to pay for crime prevention
programs between community residents and law enforcement personnel to
control crime and to procure equipment, technology, and other materials directly
related to basic law enforcement functions.
Whereas, the City of San Rafael will support the crime prevention program and
the equipment and technology procurement.
Whereas, the crime prevention program will include a citizens police academy
and at risk youth camp; and,
Whereas, the equipment and technology procurement will include
enhancements to the B -PAD hiring process, a computer for access to CAL -
GANG, and a computer for the Senior Citizens "Are you OK' program.
Whereas, the City Council must approve use of the grant funds to begin the
process of grant approval;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the use
of $67,081 in Local Law Enforcement Block Grant funds to pay for
crime prevention and equipment and technology.
I, Jeanne M. Leoncini, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular
meeting of the San Rafael City Council meeting held on the 19th day of
JANUARY , 1999 by the following vote, to wit:
