PRESENTS THIS
.UTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
TOM SMILEY
Tom Smiley has been a member of the San Rafael Police Department since
January 21, 1974 and has been assigned to Patrol, Traffic and Training
activities; and
Tom was promoted to the rank of Corporal on September 21, 1980, and
subsequently earned and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on
September 1,1983; and
Tom has served as the Traffic Sergeant since March 6, 1995 and has
managed the traffic enforcement activities in a professional, courteous and
fair manner; and
Tom has provided countless hours of service to the City of San Rafael In
order to properly support community events such as the Marin County Fair,
Farmers Market, Italian Street Painting Festival and the Classic Car Parade,
while making sure that public safety is a top priority at these functions,;
and
Tom's recent efforts In securing a grant with the Office of Traffic Safety In
Sacramento will provide an Increased level of enforcement services aimed
at reducing traffic collisions and pedestrian accidents; and
Tom's Involvement with other Department staff is greeted with enthusiasm
and respect by those who Interact with him routinely In his roll as Traffic
Sergeant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby designate TOM
SMILEY as Employee of the Quarter for the period ending December 31, 1998 and express sincere
appreciation to T for his dedication and outstanding service to the City of San Rafael.
