RESOLUTION NO. 10380.
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A $15,000 LOAN FOR THE CANAL
MERCADO.
The City council of the City of San Rafael, Marin County, California, does hereby
declare, find and determine that:
WHEREAS, the Canal neighborhood has requested a Mercado through the
"Canal Voice"; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide a community gathering event for the
Canal, enhance shopping opportunities, enhance the image of the Canal as a fun family
place, and provide an incubator opportunity for small businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Mercado will be issued a certificate to operate as a Certified
Farmers' Market by the State of California; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed to provide for start-up costs for the Canal
Mercado.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Rafael resolves to loan the
Canal Mercado $15,000 for start-up costs including hiring a Market Manager,
advertising, logo, and equipment, and authorizes the Economic Development Director to
execute such loan.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced
and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of San Rafael on the 15'
day of March, 1999, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Heller, Miller, Phillips & Vice -Mayor Cohen
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: Mayor Boro
