CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
GRUPPO LONATESE
WHEREAS, in 1995, the Gruppo Lonatese began the project that became
known as the Lonatese Gardens, and
WHEREAS, in constructing the Gardens, the Gruppo took a vacant,
unused patio and transformed it into a formal Italian garden; and
WHEREAS, during the time the Gardens were being constructed, the
Gruppo Lonatese raised funds to support this project through community events;
and
WHEREAS, not only was the Gruppo involved in all aspects of the design
and installation of the Gardens, but they also put in place a volunteer work force
to maintain the Gardens; and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 1999, the Gruppo Lonatese fulfilled their
commitment to repay to the City of San Rafael an outstanding loan of $20,000,
which had been advanced to them when the project began.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of San Rafael, on behalf of all of its residents, hereby acknowledges the efforts
of the Gruppo Lonatese in the creation of the Lonatese Gardens, an outstanding
achievement and an important addition to the quality of life in our fair city.
