HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 10446 (20A Funds)RESOLUTION NO. 10446 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL INDICATING ITS DESIRE TO STRONGLY CONSIDER USING RULE 20A FUNDS, BEGINNING IN YEAR 2003, TO UNDERGROUND OVERHEAD UTILITY WIRES ON FREITAS PARKWAY, EXTENDING TO THE TERRA LINDA RECREATION CENTER IN NORTH SAN RAFAEL. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael as follows: WHEREAS, the North San Rafael Vision identifies certain improvements along the Freitas Parkway corridor; and WHEREAS, one of these improvements is to underground the existing overhead utility wires; and WHEREAS, the City Council has committed Rule 20A funds to other projects until the year 2003; and WHEREAS, the City Council has the ability to determine where the Rule 20 funds are allocated; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that there will be costs to the City for its share of the undergrounding, specifically, any street light poles and circuits as well as any traffic signal interconnection; and WHEREAS, the City will need to evaluate its share of the undergrounding cost against other capital improvement priorities at the time the undergrounding project is considered by a future City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council is aware that it cannot commit a future City Council to expend future funds for any project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael that it recognizes the desirability of undergrounding overhead utility lines along Freitas Parkway, extending to the Terra Linda Recreation Center in North San Rafael; and BE IT RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the Council does hereby strongly recommend that when additional Rule 20A utility undergrounding funds become available, the City Council allocate Rule 20A utility undergrounding funds for the undergrounding of overhead utility lines along Freitas Parkway, extending to the Terra Linda Recreation Center.
