RESOLUTION NO. 10500
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
JOHN THIBODEAUX
WHEREAS, on July 7, 1999, John Thibodeaux was driving south on Ranchitos
Road in the late afternoon, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thibodeaux saw the car in front of him move slowly into the
northbound lane, then back across both lanes to come to a stop at a roadside
embankment, and
WHEREAS, he also noticed that the driver of the car was shaking violently, and
WHEREAS, when the vehicle came to a stop, Mr. Thibodeaux parked behind it,
opened the door, took out the car keys and stayed with the driver, Susan Peterson -
Newton, until help arrived; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Peterson -Newton had suffered a grand mal seizure. She is
now 95% recovered and has provided us with these facts to ensure that Mr. Thibodeaux
is properly honored for his most courageous and unselfish act on her behalf.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby expresses its appreciation for the kindness of JOHN THIBODEAUX and
commends Mr. Thibodeaux for his good citizenship, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council recognizes Mr. Thibodeaux as a
modem day Good Samaritan, an example for all to follow.
