RESOUTION OF UPRECIdTION
FRmNDs OF THE SAN RAFAEL ftBLIc LIBRARY
WHEREAS, The Friends of the San Rafael Public Library is a
500 member non-profit community organization whose primary purpose
is to support and advocate for the San Rafael Public Library; and
WHEREAS, The Friends of the San Rafael Public Library have
raised over $100,000 for the Library within the last four years to
purchase furniture, equipment computers, and books and to support
such outreach activities as the Summer Reading Program, the First
Wednesday Art Lecture Series, and numerous educational lectures for
adults; and
WHEREAS, Many of the members of the Friends of the San Rafael
Public Library volunteer hundreds of hours of their time to organize and
staff book sales, deliver books to convalescent homes, help at the Canal
Learning Center, mend books, and organize and present public
programs; and
WHEREAS, The Friends of the San Rafael Public Library are a
treasured community organization whose good work for the San Rafael
Public Library improves the quality library service to the community, and
thus improves the quality of life for all the citizens of San Rafael.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of San Rafael hereby commends and thanks the Friends of the
San Rafael Public Library for their outstanding contribution to the
community.
