HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 10533 (Town Center Construction St. Closure)RESOLUTION NO. 10533 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF COURT STREET BETWEEN FOURTH STREET AND FIFTH AVENUE FOR THE SAFETY OF PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC DURING CONSTRUCTION OF THE RAFAEL TOWN CENTER WHEREAS, the construction of Rafael Town Center necessitates the excavation of the site at Fourth and Court Streets, and will require the use of numerous pieces of heavy construction equipment including large semi -trucks; and WHEREAS, the construction of Rafael Town Center in the middle of the City's downtown requires that certain precautions be taken to ensure the public health safety and welfare in this congested area; and WHEREAS, the City's Director of Public Works and the City's Traffic Engineer, after reviewing plans for the construction of Rafael Town Center and the traffic patterns of the large equipment to be used in the construction process, have determined and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the downtown area, Court Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue should be temporarily closed to through traffic. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. That all of the above findings are true and correct. 2. That pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, using the Court Street vicinity in the downtown area, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary closure of a portion of Court Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue during the construction of the Rafael Town Center. 1 RMNA 1��33 I, JEANNE M.
