On March 28, 1985 Forrest began working for the San Rafael Fire Department as a
temporary employee; and
On May 29, 1985 Forrest was hired as a permanent employee in the classification of
Fire Inspector, and .
On October 4, 1989 Forrest was promoted to the new classification of Deputy Fire
Marshal / Hazardous Material Coordinator in recognition of the City's need to
Implement and monitor Hazardous Materials programs; and
During his tenure with the San Rafael Fire Department Forrest has represented the
Department and the City with great diligence and to the admiration of organizations
such as the California Fire Chiefs Association, Fire Prevention Officers Section (as
Chair of the California Code of Regulations Committee) and the Governor's Office of
Emergency Services, Local Emergency Planning Commission (as Chair of Region II);
and
During his tenure with the San Rafael Fire Department Forrest has been instrumental
In assisting in the Implementation of programs that are now associated with the
Department and the City such as the Permanent Household Hazardous Waste facility
and the Fire Department's Business Plan; and
On May 20, 1998 tendered his resignation, effective June 16, 1998 to move on in his
Career Ladder, to become Fire Marshal for the Novato Fire Protection District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby congratulate
FORREST on his past accomplishments with the City of San Rafael and his Promotion, and wish him
well in his future endeavprs.
