RESOLUTION NO. 10244
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
Stuart Lum
WHEREAS, Stuart Lum, as a member of the San Rafael Rotary Club, actively promoted
and coordinated Books for Kids, a community -wide effort to promote reading by securing
donations of books for school-age children in San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lum and his fellow Rotarians secured donations totaling $8,500
towards the purchase of books for kids, and collected contributions of over 12,000 books at fifty
different locations within the City of San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lum spearheaded the Books for Kids project which was a true
nunity-wide effort, whose participants included: the four Rotary clubs of San Rafael; the
Rafael Public Library; the Families for Literacy Program; the San Rafael City School
rict; the Marin Community Food Bank; Frank Howard Allen Realty; Bank of America;
idesk; Travelers Insurance Group; and Scholastic Books; and
WHEREAS, this June, culminating a successful campaign, the Books for Kids project
Lstributed a bundle of new and donated books to every child in grades one through five
I enrolled in the San Rafael City Schools.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael
(.iereby commends Stuart Lum for his outstanding service to the community in spearheading
.he Books for Kids project.
