A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE JULY 1997 VERBAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL RECREATION DIRECTOR AND THE SAN RAFAEL
CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT ON JOINT USE OF THE SUN VALLEY
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MULTI -USE ROOM
WHEREAS, in July 1997 the City's former Recreation Director entered into a
verbal agreement with the San Rafael City Elementary School District to utilize the
proposed Sun Valley, Elementary School Multi -Use Room for appropriate community
programming; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the proposed Sun Valley Elementary School
Multi -Use Facility will have positive impact on the school curriculum, the campus
community and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, the use of the proposed Sun Valley Elementary School Multi -Use
Facility will be governed under existing use policies for City sponsored programs and
activities located on District properties;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San
Rafael that the City Council ratifies the July 1997 verbal agreement between the City of
San Rafael Recreation Director and the San Rafael City Elementary School District on
joint use of the Sun Valley Elementary School Multi -Use Room, in the form attached
hereto as Exhibit "A", and authorizes the Mayor to execute such agreement on behalf
of the City.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the city of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular
meeting of the City council of said City, held on MONDAY, the 18th day of
MAY . 1998, by the following vote, to wit:

AGREEMENT
SAN RAFAEL CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
ON JOIN USE OF THE SUN VALLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MULTI -USE ROOM
On or about July 1997, A representative of the San Rafael City Elementary School
District (District) and the City of San Rafael Recreation Director (City) verbally
discussed and determined that the joint use of the proposed new Sun Valley School
Multi -Use Room (Facility) by the District, City and community would be in the best
interests of the community.
The foregoing representatives determined that the District and the City would:
1. Jointly support the construction of the Facility for its value to the school curriculum,
the campus community and the community at large.
2. Agree to the joint use of the Facility.
3. Agree the use of the Facility will be governed under existing use policies for City
sponsored programs and activities located on district properties.
4. Agree to enter into a formal joint use facility agreement.
The parties hereby ratify the foregoing verbal agreement as of the dates entered below
following their signatures.
