PRESEN'T'S THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
Glenn David Mathews
WHEREAS, Glenn David Mathews has served on the Cultural Affairs Commission from
May 3, 1993 until the end of April 1997, giving generously of his time to work for the
cultural life of his community and to encourage, improve and develop the historic
preservation of buildings and environments within San Rafael.
WHEREAS, during Glenn David's tenure on the Cultural Affairs Commission he has
overseen tremendous advances in the recognition of the historic significance of the
Falkirk Cultural Center by donating his services to research, write and complete a
valuable Conservation Assessment Report under the auspices of the National Institute for
the Conservation of Cultural Property and the Institute of Museum Services.
WHEREAS, as a member of the Cultural Affairs Commission, Glenn David was a vital
source of information, procedures, and implications of intended changes to historic
property in San Rafael. Mr. Mathews studied proposals and offered specific alternatives,
improvements and suggestions to insure the integrity of buildings and areas classified as
"excellent" in terms of historic significance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby commends Glenn David Mathews on his four years of exemplary service to the
community as a Commissioner of the San Rafael Cultural Affairs Commission.
