CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
ANION OF 11PPRECUITION
TO
MICHAEL TRUJILLO
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael places the highest value on its citizens and
its ability to work cooperatively with them to better living conditions
and quality of life in the City; and,
WHEREAS, a violent crime occurred on Saturday, May 17, 1997, at Bahia Way
and Bahia Place, in which a man was stabbed and the suspect fled
the area; and,
WHEREAS, a local resident, Michael Trujillo, called the Police Department to
report the crime despite objections from bystanders and
immediately came forward at the crime scene to provide critically
needed assistance to police officers by serving as a translator for
the victim and witnesses; and,
WHEREAS,
largely due to the assistance of Michael Trujillo, medical assistance
was summoned for the victim, a suspect was identified, arrested
and charged with a crime, and the knife was found preventing
further injury to the public.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of San Rafael and all
members of the San Rafael Police Department recognize the great
courage and determination shown by Michael Trujillo on this day
and thank him for setting an example for all young people on how
to become involved in our community in a positive and productive
manner.
