PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
GARY GL4COM/N/
WHEREAS, Gary Giacomini has represented the Fourth District as Marin County
Supervisor for 24 years, having been fust elected in 1972 and then re-elected to five
successive terms; and
WHEREAS, during Gary's very able representation of this diverse district and in
close cooperation with its cities, he also served as a member of many boards and
commissions, among them the California State Coastal Commission and the Marin
Agricultural Land Trust, which enabled him to further his passionate interest in the
preservation of open space, resulting in the preservation of thousands and thousands of
acres of untouchable open space in Marin County, and
WHEREAS, Gary also led the fight to protect the Buck Trust for the residents of
Marin County, which resulted in the vision ofthe Buck Center for the Aging as a way for the
County of Marin to provide a gift to the world; and
WHEREAS, Gary has decided to return to the practice of law, a profession he
abandoned in 1974 in order to serve full time on the Board of Supervisors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael, on behalf of all of its residents, hereby acknowledges the decades of unselfish
service that Gary Giacomini has provided, not only for San Rafael but for all of Marin
County, and laud Garyfor his innumerable accomplishments in untold fields of endeavor
