RESOLUTION NO. 9755
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO

WHEREAS, On November 6, 1996, the residents served by the Marin Municipal Water
District approved Ballot Measure L authorizing a special assessment to
improve the water delivery system for fire protection; and
WHEREAS, The approval of Measure L culminated a two year study identifying over 146
specific projects that would increase fire flow capacity of the water delivery
system and seismically improve the infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Ritt Hewitt was selected to represent the Marin County Fire
Chiefs Association on the Water District's Technical Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, Chief Hewitt during the initial phase of the study recommended, and the Water
District installed, outlets on storage tanks for fire department use, since to that
date their were no means for water delivery from such tanks; and
WHEREAS, Chief Hewitt provided the necessary expertise to assist other fire departments
in defining their fire flow needs and functioned as a liaison to the Water
District and consultants; and
WHEREAS, Due to Chief Hewitt's demeanor, knowledge, commitment and enthusiastic
support for Measure L, the Marin County fire service and the residents served
by the Marin Municipal Water District have greatly benefited,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of San Rafael
express their appreciation and gratitude for his unending work to insure passage of Measure
L and to improve fire protection, not only for all San Rafael residents but for the County of
Marin as a whole.
