HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 9756 (Michael Sexton Appreciation)SRCC ITEM #5 (12/16/96) RESOLUTION NO. 9756 CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PRESENTS THIS RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO WHEREAS, On March 6, 1979, the residents of San Rafael approved Ballot Measure M authorizing a special tax to implement Paramedic service, and WHEREAS, On January 1, 1980, San Rafael's first Paramedic Unit was placed in service with the addition of six Paramedics, and WHEREAS, Kaiser Hospital, in the spirit of community service, became our Base Hospital providing the guidance and inspiration for our new program, and WHEREAS, Doctor Michael Sexton was selected as our Base Hospital Medical Director and served in that capacity for over 16 years providing vision, guidance and direction; and WHEREAS, Doctor Sexton was instrumental in the selection of our Paramedics assuring that the residents of San Rafael were treated by highly proficient Paramedics and that patient care was of uppermost importance; and WHEREAS, Five of the original six Paramedics originally hired in 1979 are still functioning as Paramedics today, which is a testament to Doctor Sexton's insight in the selection of our Paramedics, and WHEREAS, Doctor Sexton is a staunch supporter of the Fire Department and a Marin County leader in emergency medical care serving on many committees, and WHEREAS, Doctor Sexton has assumed additional responsibilities in the health care field that require his attention where he can no longer serve as our Base Hospital Physician, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council on behalf of the residents of San Rafael and the many who have received excellent Paramedic service wish to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude for his many years of dedicated and loyal service.
