A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
RAFAEL FOR POLLUTION PREVENTION WEEK:
ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF MARIN COUNTY POLLUTION
PREVENTION PROGRAM (MCSTOPPP).
WHEREAS, in honor of Pollution Prevention Week (September 16 -
September 22), the City of San Rafael recognizes the successful efforts of the MCSTOPPP
Program in their pollution prevention work during the last year; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes that pollution prevention is
an approach to environmental protection that focuses on eliminating or reducing pollution
at its source, and is therefore the preferable strategy for protecting our precious natural
resources; and
WHEREAS, education and outreach is an important tool in order to
change people's behavior to prevent pollution from reaching the Bay Area waters; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes the MCSTOPPP Program
in their successful efforts to implement a regional outreach program through education to
raise awareness of storm drain pollution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael
that the City of San Rafael congratulates the MCSTOPPP Program in its efforts to
implement County -wide pollution prevention programs.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City of San Rafael endorses Pollution
Prevention Week (September 16-22) and encourages its staff, individual citizens,
businesses, organization, local agencies and public institutions to participate in local and
regional activities in honor of Pollution Prevention Week.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that
the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of
the Council of said City on the 16`x' day of September, 1996, by the following vote, to wit:
