CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO
FRIENDS OF THE SAN RAFAEL PUBLIC LIBRARY
WHEREAS, The Friends of the San Rafael Public Library are an independent
non-profit community group dedicated to the support and improvement of the San Rafael Public
Library through fundraising, volunteering, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, Over the last several years, the Friends of the San Rafael Public Library have
contributed thousands of dollars to support programs and special events such as the Childrens'
Summer Reading Program, and Art Docent Lectures, as well as to purchase books, videos,
computers, copy machines, and other needed equipment for the Library; and
WHEREAS, The Friends of the San Rafael Public Library, recognizing that the Library
desperately needed new furniture because the existing furniture was over thirty years old and in
disrepair, have raised approximately $30,000 in private donations to purchase all new furniture
and signage for the public service areas of the Library, a gift that will greatly improve the
appearance of the Library and add to the community's enjoyment and use of this precious
community asset.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby
extends its sincere appreciation to the Friends of the San Rafael Public Library for their ongoing
support of the Library and especially for their perseverance, hard work and dedication in raising
$30,000 in private donations to purchase all new furniture and signage for the San Rafael Public
Library.
