CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESO161UTION OF 11PPRECIRTION
TO
FRAN DAVIS
WHEREAS, Fran Davis has worked as a Library Assistant at the Circulation
Desk for the San Rafael Public Library from May of 1968 to December of 1995;
and
WHEREAS, Fran has been a respected member of the staff known for her hard
work, her quick wit, and her good humor, and has served as the unofficial poet
laureate of the Library writing odes and humorous sonnets for retirements and
other special occasions; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of twenty-seven years with the Library, Fran has
gracefully made the transition from circulating books with nineteenth century
methods using manual hand stamps and book cards to the twenty-first century
technologies using automated bar code readers and on-line terminals; and
WHEREAS, Fran has been primarily responsible for developing, creating, and
maintaining the Marin Notebooks, an invaluable resource and research tool for
patrons interested in the history of San Rafael and Marin County; and
WHEREAS, Fran will be missed by the staff as well as the 40,000 patrons of the
Library, most of whom she knows personally.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby commends Fran Davis on her twenty-seven years of exemplary
service to the community and wishes her a long, healthy and happy retirement.
