RESOLUTION NO. 9539
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
ITION OF i1PPRECIRTION
TO
ELAINE COLLINS
WHEREAS, Elaine Collins has served as Department Secretary for the San Rafael
Public Library from June of 1975 to December of 1995; and
WHEREAS, In that time Elaine has been an essential member of the staff doing all the
things big and small which help the department run smoothly, from comforting and
assisting frantic employees who haven't received a paycheck to assisting in the
preparation of the Department's budget; and
WHEREAS, In her time as Department Secretary Elaine has gracefully made the
transition from the era of typewriters and carbon paper to the era of PCs and online
electronic ordering; and
WHEREAS, Elaine, in her role as bookkeeper, has received and paid for over 100,000
books, videos, magazines, and assorted office supplies, computers, book carts, and library
furniture; and she has processed thousands of claims, purchase orders, E -envelopes,
petty -cash vouchers, and invoices totaling millions of dollars; and
WHEREAS, Elaine is widely respected among the staff for her hard work, efficiency,
fairness, professionalism, and for having the tidiest in -basket in the Library.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby commends Elaine Collins for exemplary service to the community as Department
Secretary of the San Rafael Public Library, and wishes her a long, healthy and happy
retirement.
