TO
SEAN PRENDIVILLE
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville after an astounding thirteen years as a member of the Board of
Trustees for the City of San Rafael Public Library, has retired from that position
as of 2017; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville has been an enthusiastic and vocal supporter of public library
services in San Rafael, especially when helping draw crowds into at the pop-up
Library at the Downtown Farmers Market; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville has served as a staunch supporter for intellectual freedom,
privacy, and social equity - the cornerstones of library service; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville routinely brings national and regional library issues and
concerns to the Library Trustees and the Library staff; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville has approached difficult issues facing the Board with
compassion and humanity; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville served as Board chair for multiple years with grace and
kindness; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville routinely expressed gratitude to both staff and volunteers alike
for their work for the Library; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville has not only been a member of the Library Board of Trustees,
but also an active long-time supporter of the Friends of the San Rafael Public
Library including volunteering at their fundraising book sales and moving many,
many, many heavy boxes of books to and fro; and
WHEREAS, Sean Prendiville has the unwavering gratitude of the Library Board of Trustees
and Library staff for his service, wisdom, and guidance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby commend Seqn Prendiville on his many contributions to the community during his
tenure with th _ity and wi es him well in all of his future a eavors.
