TO
SAN RAFAEL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
WHEREAS, Local businesses make up an essential part of the economic health of the City of San Rafael
and contribute to the vibrancy of life in San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, San Rafael based businesses help create a strong local economy, provide valuable products
and services to residents and businesses, and provide employment and leadership opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael supports the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, which functions as
a highly successful resource for all businesses; and
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce celebrates its membership through an annual awards
ceremony to recognize the best large, small, and green businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce will host the business of the year awards ceremony at the State
of the City dinner at Peacock Gap Country Club on March 16, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce has received many deserving nominations for large, small, and
green business of the year; and
WHEREAS, the business of the year honorees will remain confidential until the `big reveal' at the State
of the City dinner and there is a great degree of anticipation of which businesses will win; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael and the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce want to recognize the
business of the year nominees for their contribution to the high quality of life in San Rafael.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
express sincere appreciation for the contributions of all businesses within the City of San Rafael and
support the recognition of the nominees for large, small, and green business of the year through the
annual `State of the City' awards ceremony hosted by the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce.
