CARLENE MCCART
WHEREAS, Carlene McCart has served as Director of Community Services for the City of San Rafael since
1998 after serving on the San Rafael Park and Recreation Commission from 1989 to 1998; and
WHEREAS, Carlene has been the mastermind behind many great partnerships, collaborations and
development projects that will provide a lasting impact for the residents of San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Carlene collaborated with the Department of Public Works on vital Capital Improvement
Projects in our community, including: Pickleweed Park Field Renovation, Albert J. Boro Community
Center Renovation and Expansion, Terra Linda Community Pool Rebuild, Parkside Children's Center,
Canal Community Garden Installation, and McInnis Park Skatepark; and
WHEREAS, the many park projects completed during her tenure include: the Starkweather Shoreline
Park MMWD Pond, Victor Jones Masterplan, Loch Lomond Public Amenities Design, Los Ranchitos Park
Installation, and park and playground renovations across the City; and
WHEREAS, Carlene has forged public-private partnerships, expanding the services provided to the
community, such as: bringing back the community's love of baseball with the San Rafael Pacifics,
renovating and reopening Beach Park with Terrapin Crossroads, maintaining the Albert Park Bocce
courts with Marin Bocce Federation, the Marin Master Gardeners/Falkirk Garden and Greenhouse
program with LIC Davis Extension, and more; and
WHEREAS, a highly effective leader, Carlene was focused on increasing cultural unity, fostering human
development, promoting health and wellness and strengthening our community; and
WHEREAS, San Rafael has benefitted greatly from Carlene's creativity, dedication and devotion to
making a difference in her community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Rafael does hereby express
its sincere gratitude to Carlene McCart for nearly two decades of professional service.
