Scott was appointed to the Planning Commission on August 5,1985; served as Planning Commission Chair in 1989 and in 1992; as a Planning Commission representative on the Residential Care Facilities Task Force and Downtown Plan Steering Committee; and %XEEAS Sue helped guide the Planning Commission's 1986-87 complex review of the award-winning San Rafael General Plan 2000; and %WEREa,s, Sue was involved in numerous recommendations on important projects which have shaped the city including Embassy Suites Hotel; expansions of Northgate, Kaiser, Marin Academy, Marin Recycling, and Montecito Plaza; homer at Smith Ranch Hills, Marin Lagoon, Baypoint Lagoon, St. Isabella's, Centertown, The Highlands, Oak Ridge; busi- nesses at Civic Center North, Home Depot, RAB Motors, Toys R Us; and extension of Andersen Drive; and ' WEXEa,s, Sue was also involved in making recommendations for a new 1992 City Zoning Ordinance, the East San Rafael Neighborhood Plan, Shoreline Park Master Plan, Spinnaker Lagoon Management Plan, 1990 Housing Element Update; the City's Priority Projects Procedure, and the Residential Care Facilities Task Force Report; and ,;Offs, Sue encouraged ways to improve communication between the City and citizens, including the setting up of Neighborhood Meeting Procedures, and provision of Planning Department handouts; and 1fEY,E.3s, Sue applied to be a Commissioner in large part because she cared about the future of Downtown; and was highly supportive of City Council efforts to develop a collaborative Vision for Downtown's future, one which involved the greatest number of Downtown interest groups under the guidance of Michael Doyle; and 'whfEy,T_m, during development of the 1993 Downtown Vision, Sue spent innumerable hours, first as a member of the Downtown Plan Steering Committee; then as a Vision Volunteer, staying informed as to progress, assisting with events, and informing others through personal efforts and through her Newspointer articles; and ,WHEg,T_m, Sue's efforts and those of many others have resulted in ongoing positive direction for Downtown, as evidenced by recently approved projects at 1 H Street , Boyd Ct, the Mission St. Condos, tree planting activities, and exciting projects soon to be realized --the San Rafael Theater; and iv`XERy_,qS, Sue has always made it a high priority to seek community involvement, listen well, consider carefully, and represent the community in her actions; and has been a particularly strong advocate for diversity and for encouraging housing opportunities in San Rafael.
