A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
AND POLICE CHIEF TO NOTIFY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
THAT THE CITY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING FEDERAL CRIME BILL FUNDING
WHEREAS, the City Council had previously approved the Police
Department to apply for grant funding from the U. S. Department of Justice
under the Federal Crime Bill to fund specific community policing activities; and
WHEREAS, it has now been determined that the funding formula is not
beneficial to the City of San Rafael under the current formula for this purpose;
and
WHEREAS, it does not appear that the U. S. Congress will modify the
funding formula in the very near future to further benefit the City of San Rafael in
these activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael authorizes the City Manager and the Police Chief to notify the U. S.
Department of Justice that the City of San Rafael does not intend to accept the
Federal Crime Bill funding as currently formulated.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael hereby certify that
the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly Introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on Monday, the twenty first
day of August, 1995, by the following vote, to wit:
