PRESENTS THIS
RESOUITION OF 11PPRECUITION
TO
Roger Smith
rPWERE.AS, in lune, 1993, Our Vision of Downtown San Rafael was
presented to the San Rafael City Council, and
%WERE.AS, the San Rafael City Council determined amendments were needed
to make the San Rafael General Plan and Zoning Ordinance consistent with the Vision, and
TWEREU Roger Smith has served Downtown as a l felong San Rafael
resident, a member of the Mission Rotary, and a member of the real estate community, and
gWERE.AS, in August, 1993, Roger was appointed by the San Rafael City
Council to the Downtown Advisor Group charged with translating Our Vision into General Plan
policies and Zoning Ordinance regulations, and
WHEREAS, Roger has served as co-chair for the Downtown Advisor Group,
and contributed his considerable knowledge in the areas of real estate, finance and development as
an advocate of the importance of economic health as the key to the vitality of Downtown, and
,�WERE.AS, Roger has served on numerous subcommittees to work out
specks of the Downtown Advisor Group's recommendations, as well as volunteered to present
the group's recommendations on various occasions, and
IPWEREU in May, 1995, Roger and the other members of the Downtown
Advisor Group presented to the City Council recommendations which will allow in Downtown
the type of changes and activity promoted in Our Vision.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council
of the City of San Rafael, on behalf of all its citizens, hereby express sincere appreciation and
gratitude to Roger for his considerable contribution of time and spirit, and for his continuing
commitment to the future of Downtown.
