TO
George Wesley Walton
WHEREAS, George Walton has served on the Library Board of
Trustees from November of 1985 to April 1995, giving generously of his
time to work for a library that is responsive to community needs and
financially strong; and
WHEREAS, during George's tenure on the Library Board he has
overseen tremendous advances in library service to the community,
including the implementation of an integrated on-line library system, and
the development of a strong Friends of the Library organization; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Library Board, George was a
source of creative ideas regarding alternative funding sources, the use of
technology, and new ways of doing business; and
WHEREAS, George has been a strong advocate for the Library to
the community and the City Council, and has distinguished himself as a
visionary and an advocate for the Library on the City's Downtown Vision
Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of San Rafael hereby commends George Wesley Walton on his ten
years of exemplary service to the community as a Trustee of the San
Rafael Public Library.
