RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING STAFF TO APPLY FOR A GRANT PROMOTING
CIVIC LITERACY AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AMONG THE
RESIDENTS OF THE CANAL NEIGHBORHOOD
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to promote civic involvement and improve
communication and understanding between different populations within the City; and
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Public Library has been invited to submit a Library
Services Construction Act (LSCA) grant proposal for a project promoting civic literacy,
targeting the predominantly Hispanic and culturally diverse Canal neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that this grant -funded project will greatly
improve understanding and communication between different populations within the City,
and will increase the participation of the residents of the Canal neighborhood in
community affairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby authorizes staff to apply for a Library Services Construction Act (LSCA)
grant to promote Civic Literacy.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael hereby certify
that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a Regular
meeting of the City Council of said City held on Mondav, the Second day of May ,
1994, by the folllowing vote to wit:
