A RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL REJECTING THE BID OF
CAPITOL FORD, INC. AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO NEGOTIATE AND PURCHASE
A 1994 4WD ENCLOSED TRUCK FOR THE POLICE RANGER.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the City's Equipment
Replacement Program for 1993 - 1994, specifications were drawn and
bids solicited for a new 1994 4WD enclosed truck for the Police
Ranger to replace an existing 1981 vehicle; and
WHEREAS, bids were received and opened for said vehicle
on November 16, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the bid of Capitol Ford, Inc. of San Jose was
the only bid received, and as such, precludes any comparison with
other bids received; and
WHEREAS, it is staff's recommendation that the bid of
Capitol Ford, Inc. be rejected; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 3.1 of the San Rafael City
Charter provides that the City Council may reject any bid deemed
excessive and re -advertise, or purchase the requested item upon the
open market.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the San Rafael City
Council that the bid of Capitol Ford, Inc. is hereby rejected, and
that staff is authorized to negotiate and purchase said 4WD vehicle
for the Police Ranger in the open market.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael,
hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said
City on Monday, the 6th day of December, 1993, by the following
vote, to wit:
