RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULTS OF
CONSOLIDATED SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 1993
WHEREAS, in pursuance of law and the Charter of the City of San
Rafael, there was held in said City on Tuesday, the 8th day of June, 1993, a
Consolidated Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to the
electors of the City of San Rafael the following measure:
MEASURE K - MUNICIPAL SERVICES TAX
Shall the City of San Rafael Municipal Code be amended
to add Chapter 3.35 Municipal Services Tax to levy a tax
for a period of four (4) years on the occupants of
improved residential real property of $70.00 per year
per living unit and a tax of eight (8) cents per square
foot per year with a limit of four thousand ($4,000)
dollars on each non-residential structure for the
purpose of maintaining and continuing existing and
future municipal services; and in connection therewith
shall the appropriation limit of the City of San Rafael
be increased for a similar period of four (4) years by
the total amount collected from the Municipal Services
Tax and continuing appropriations of the proceeds of
already existing local taxes and available State
subventions as required by Article XIII B of the
California Constitution?
WHEREAS, said Consolidated Special Municipal Election was held on
Tuesday, June 8, 1993, in accordance with law and the votes thereat received and
canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared in all
respects as required by law:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San
Rafael, as follows:
1. That the City Clerk of the City of San Rafael be, and is hereby,
instructed to enter this resolution in the minutes of the City Council as a
statement of the results of said election.

2. That the whole number of votes cast at said election was 7,610
3. That less than a majority of all the votes cast on said Measure
K were in favor of said Measure, and said Measure failed.
4. That all absentee voters' ballots have been duly received and
canvassed in time, form and manner as required by law.
5. That the number of votes given in each precinct and by absentee
votes for said ballot measure was as detailed in Exhibit A, attached.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby
certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and
adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City held on Monday, the 21st
day of June. 1993, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Breiner, Cohen, Shippey, Thayer & Mayor Boro
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
