HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 8851 (Early Retirement Program)RESOLUTION NO. 8851 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL ADOPTING AN EXPANSION OF THE EARLY RETIREMENT PROGRAM AND THE PROGRAM'S QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS WHEREAS, Government Code Section 31641.04 permits the City Council, by Resolution, to determine that because of savings in money or other economic benefit to the City, a member shall be eligible to receive two years of additional service credit for retirement purposes; and WHEREAS, the actuarial study conducted by The Segal Company in February, 1993 has demonstrated that the City of San Rafael would realize significant payroll savings by offering an extension of the early retirement program to employees otherwise eligible to retire who occupy the following classifications: Accounting Technician Custodian Deputy Finance Director Finance Director Fire Captain Fire Chief Fire Division Chief Fire Engineer Firefighter Fire Training Officer Librarian II Library Assistant II Officer Engineer Typist Clerk II Parks Superintendent Police Corporal Police Lieutenant Police Officer Police Records Clerk II Police Sergeant Secretary Secretary to City Manager Senior Secretary Shop & Equipment Supv. Street Maintenance Supv. Supervising Groundsworker Sweeper Operator NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the San Rafael authorizes extending an early retirement program which provides for two additional years of service credit under the following conditions: 1. Employees must notify their department head and the City Manager of their intent to avail themselves of the early retirement program no later than April 30, 1993. 2. Employees must select a retirement date which is implemented and in effect between March 16 and June 30, 1993. ORIGINAL ��\ I, JEANNE M.
