RESOLUTION NO. 8865
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOUITION OF 11PPRECIRTION
TO
SHARON L. BUNKER
DISPATCHER, SAN RAFAEL POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, on October 19, 1992, Dispatcher Sharon L. Bunker was on duty
in the San Rafael Police Department but away from her work station on her
break when she heard a radio broadcast of an armed robbery in a local
convenience store; and
WHEREAS, Sharon immediately returned to her work station in the
communications section and quickly began assuming some of the essential
tasks necessary to assure the safety and success of responding San Rafael
Officers; and
WHEREAS, Sharon continued to work closely with her dispatch partner,
overcoming significant communications problems with east bay agencies
while pooling and relaying new information to and from allied agencies in a
manner that assured field units the availability of the most current
information; and
WHEREAS, Sharon continued to carry out her tasks and responsibilities in a
highly professional manner in the most stressful of situations when San
Rafael Officers engaged the suspects in a gun battle in the east bay.
Sharon's performance was a significant factor in the successful conclusion of
an extremely dangerous situation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
San Rafael, on behalf of its grateful residents, employees and businesses,
and in acknowledgment of Sharon L. Bunker's exemplary conduct expresses
its sincerest appreciation for a job well done.
