RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING SAN RAFAEL PUBLIC LIBRARY TO APPLY TO
THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY FOR GRANT FUNDS
IN SUPPORT OF THE FAMILY LITERACY PROGRAM
FOR THE SAN RAFAEL LIBRARY ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the California State Library has funded a successful Adult
Literacy Program at The San Rafael Library for the past four years;
and
WHEREAS, the California State Library has, funded an equally
successful Family Literacy component of the San Rafael Library
Adult Literacy Program for the past two years; and
WHEREAS, The San Rafael Library Adult Literacy Program provides
the City of San Rafael with the increased use of the library as an
education center and an intercultural bridge through exchanges
between volunteer tutors and students; and
WHEREAS, The Family Literacy Program provides the adult student
with a tool to break the cycle of illiteracy by teaching the parent how
be the first teacher of his/her child.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby authorizes the San Rafael Public Library to apply to
the California State Library for grant funds to support a Family
Literacy Program as part of the San Rafael Library Adult Literacy
Program.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael hereby
certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of
Said City held on Monday the Eighteenth day of May, 1992, by the
following vote to wit:
