A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING $15,400 FOR SEDEMENT
TESTING IN CONNECTION WITH THE DREDGING OF
THE SAN RAFAEL CANAL
WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers' project for dredging the San
Rafael Canal is now nearing completion; and
WHEREAS, it is now appropriate for the City Council to consider the
dredging of the Canal outside of the Corps' channel: and
WHEREAS, it was determined the City would act in the capacity of
permit applicant for those property owners who choose to dredge their site so as
to make the process less cumbersome and more efficient for said owners; and
WHEREAS, it is now appropriate to begin testing the sediment to be
dredged; and
WHEREAS, a proposal covering all sampling and analysis necessary to
comply with Water Quality regulations at a cost of $15,400 has been received: and
WHEREAS, said cost would be reimbursed to the City as a surcharge
to those property owners who dredge.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of San Rafael that an appropriation of $15,400 is hereby authorized from the City's
unappropriated reserves for testing of sediment to be dredged from the San Rafael
Canal. Said cost shall be reimbursed to the City in the form of a surcharge to those
property owners who choose to dredge.
I, JEANNE. M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby
certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted
at a regular meeting of the Council of said City on Monday, the 3rd day of February
1992, by the following vote, to wit:
