A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN RAFAEL DECLARING A SEVERE FIRE DANGER
WHEREAS, due to climatic conditions, the City of San
Rafael experiences little or no rainfall during the months of
June through September; and
WHEREAS, this is the fifth year of drought which has
reduced the amount of moisture in the brush and trees; and
WHEREAS, the unusual freezing conditions experienced in
December, 1990, further weakened the brush and trees; and
WHEREAS, the heavy March rains, although increasing the
supply of water in the reservoirs, also promoted the growth of
weeds and grasses which will dry out and become fuel for fires;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of San Rafael, California, does declare that it appears
that this summer has the potential to be an extreme fire season;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City ouncil of the
City of San Rafael further requests its citizens to remove tree
branches from around chimney, clear brush from around structures,
keep landscape clean, plant fire resistive vegetation and be
especially diligent and fire safe during the summer fire season.

hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
Council of said City on Monday , the M th day of May ,
1991, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Boro, Shippey, Thayer & Vice -Mayor Breiner
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: Mayor Mulryan
